MATH: AM and PM CLASSES

DIVIDING IT UP!
This week we will wrap up chapters six and seven on division. We will continue to practice dividing facts through the 12 family, as well as recognize related multiplication facts. Students will be tested over division facts, related facts, and word problems relating to facts through divisors of 12.
We will also complete our unit on fractions. Students also be tested over fractions. Identifying fractions, equivalent fractions with the use of fraction strips, comparing and ordering fractions, as well as decimal equivalents of 25%, 50% 75% and 100%.
A vocabulary test will be included. Students will be responsible for knowing and applying the definition of the vocabulary list below.
Students will recognize related multiplication and division facts.
It is extremely important that students continue to learn and memorize the multiplication facts. This will be a huge help in understanding and solving division problems.
Students will continue to be given timed multiplication practice tests and test on a regular basis.
Students will continue to practice and work toward meeting goals on the Soft Seven Multiplication Math Race.
I encourage all students to continue to diligently work on the basic facts, especially in the area of multiplication.

Our computer lab will be on Monday's and Fridays. We will be concentrating on the Study Island program. This program is a wonderful tool to not only reinforce the course of study in our textbooks, but also prepare your student for the Oklahoma PASS Test. (Achievement tests.)
During our Study Island time, we try to incorporate the objectives being taught in the classroom with the lessons on Study Island. (Often we will introduce a new objective to learn and practice until mastery.) We will be reviewing the objective we have covered with Study Island Quizzes which will be a part of your child's averaged grade. We have begun to "layer" objectives in during our work in Study Island. We are reviewing standards and objectives which have already been individually mastered by most students, as well as introducing and practicing new standards and objectives. We will be studying and practicing solving area and perimeter problems, fractions, and combining shapes in geometry.
NOTE: Computer Lab schedule is subject to change at the discretion of Mrs. Cantrell or special events.
